Sit by the baseball hot stove and enjoy dinner at a special opening of the BirdCage restaurant at Fifth Third Field. Tiger Talk: A Helping Hens Charity Benefit with Tigers manager Brad Ausmus and catcher Alex Avila is Thursday, January 22 and will feature a sit-down dinner, raffle prizes, a live auction, and a special Q&A session featuring Ausmus and Avila.

Helping Hens Info

The Toledo Mud Hens organization is focused on the following mission, which is:

  • To foster new relationships and further develop current relationships with groups & organizations who are committed to the education and recreational development of our area youth.
  • To make a positive difference in the Toledo area community through the existing programs and events the Mud Hens sponsor each year.

During the 2014 season, the Toledo Mud Hens "Helping Hens Charitable Fund" was able to donate nearly $50,000 to local nonprofit organizations in the community.



Tiger Talk: A Helping Hens Charity Benefit Details

The event will feature a sit-down dinner in the BirdCage restaurant at Fifth Third Field. The BirdCage is located on the club level, behind home plate.

The menu will feature:

  • SPRING SALAD: Fresh Spring Mix with almonds, cucumber, grape tomatoes, and shredded carrots. Paired with italian or ranch dressing
  • COMBO PLATE: Baseball cut steak with a red wine demi glaze next to a sauteed chicken breast topped with lemon basil cream sauce accompanied by smashed potatoes and green beans
  • DESSERT: Red Velvet Cake

Each dinner guest will receive a raffle ticket. Raffle prizes from the Mud Hens and the Tigers will be announced throughout the evening.

The evening will feature a Question & Answer session with Brad Ausmus and Alex Avila. The Q&A session will be led by "Around the Bases" TV host, Matt Melzak.

The evening will conclude with the grand prize raffle drawing and several live auction items, including an opportunity for fans to take batting practice at Fifth Third Field.



Timeline of Events

6 p.m. - Doors open (Suite Door at Home Plate entrance - we will staff this door)
6:30 p.m. - Dinner served
6:30 p.m. - 6:55 p.m. - Raffle prize drawing
6:55 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. - Q&A session featuring Brad Ausmus and Alex Avila
7:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. - Grand prize raffle winner announcements & live auction (proceeds benefiting the Helping Hens charity fund)
