For Immediate Release

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - World Series Champion Pitcher and former Chicago Cub Jamie Moyer has been added to the inaugural South Bend Cubs First Pitch Banquet presented by ABC-57 and News/Talk 95.3 MNC. The banquet is scheduled for Monday, February 9, 2015 at the DoubleTree by Hilton in downtown South Bend. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.

Due to the schedule change, panelists for the First Pitch Banquet now include MLB All-Star Jamie Moyer, St. Mary's Head Softball Coach Kelli Zache, Bethel College Head Baseball Coach Seth Zartman and Director of Training and Instruction for the South Bend Cubs Performance Center Mark Haley.

"After the recent scheduling conflict, Jamie Moyer was kind enough to step in and join us for this unique event," said Haley. "Partnering with the Moyer Foundation makes perfect sense as both organizations have the same goal, to provide opportunities for kids and teens across the region. Our goal with this partnership is to bring awareness to Camp Mariposa, a program available for kids in Michiana."

Camp Mariposa, created and supported by The Moyer Foundation, is a FREE, first-of-its-kind program for children ages nine to 12 who are affected by a family member's addiction. The camp is located at The Oaks at SouthPaw Farm in Mishawaka. Money raised at the First Pitch Banquet will be used for youth baseball and softball teams to utilize the South Bend Cubs Performance Center for hitting and instruction.

Tickets are $40 and include a ticket to the event, ballpark style dinner and one ticket to a South Bend Cubs game in April (excluding Opening Day). Seating is limited to the first 250 guests. VIP tickets are $60 and include a special Meet and Greet with Jamie Moyer one hour before doors open. VIP event will be limited to 70 tickets.

Tickets will be available for purchase beginning January 22nd at 10:00 am at the Four Winds Field Main Office or at the South Bend Cubs Team Store during store hours. Tickets can also be purchased by calling the South Bend Cubs main office at 574-235-9988.

The Moyer Foundation is a public, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to provide comfort, hope and healing to children affected by loss and family addiction. Founded in 2000 by Jamie Moyer, World Series champion pitcher, and his wife, Karen, the Foundation's unique camp programs bring children together to find positive ways to cope, allowing them to lead healthy and inspired lives.

The South Bend Cubs are a Class-A minor league team affiliated with the Chicago Cubs. Through the past 27 seasons, the team has won five Midwest League titles, most recently in 2005, and captured 12 division titles. The team is owned and operated by Swing-Batter-Swing, LLC, whose sole shareholder is Andrew T. Berlin of Chicago. Opening Day is on April 9th, 2015.
