Nestor Rojas to Manage GreenJackets in 2015

Becomes First Former Player to Manage 'Jackets
January 16, 2015

AUGUSTA, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets, Single-A Affiliate of the 2014 World Champion San Francisco Giants are proud to announce the field staff for the 2015 season. Nestor Rojas will take the helm as the manager becoming the first former GreenJacket player to manage the team.

He will be joined on the staff by new pitching coach Jerry Cram, and returning hitting coach Todd Linden, and coach Hector Borg.

Rojas, 31, managed the Giants Arizona Rookie League in 2014, his second as manager. He last played in 2010, splitting time with the Giants Double-A affiliate, Richmond Flying Squirrels, and their Triple-A affiliate, Fresno Grizzlies. He has spent his entire professional career with the Giants, playing in Augusta during the 2007 and 2008 seasons.

"During his first two seasons as a manager, Nestor has shown excellent leadership and development skills in guiding our Arizona Rookie League team," said Bobby Evans, San Francisco Giants Vice President and Assistant General Manager. "We are excited that he will be heading up a talented staff in Augusta for the 2015 season."

Cram spent parts of four seasons in the major leagues with the Kansas City Royals and the New York Mets. 2015 will be his 15th season in the Giants organization, making stops in San Jose, Salem-Keizer, and last season in Richmond.

Linden returns as hitting coach for his second season in Augusta. Linden was drafted by the Giants in 2001 and played with the Giants from 2003 to 2007, before joining the then-Florida Marlins for a season.

Borg, a former GreenJacket himself, is also returning to Augusta as coach. Borg spent three seasons in the Giants system from 2004-2006.

Also returning from 2014 to round out the field staff is Strength Coach Cesar Vasquez. We welcome Gerard Moots to Augusta as the Trainer for this season.

"We are excited to welcome back Nestor and the entire field staff in 2015," said Augusta GreenJackets General Manager Tom Denlinger. "We are eager to build upon last year and provide the CSRA with fantastic baseball. We thank the Giants for providing us with a first class staff to lead the GreenJackets this season."

The GreenJackets start the 27th consecutive season on professional baseball in Augusta on Thursday, April 16th against the Rome Braves (Atlanta Braves).
