Banner Bank / Spokane Indians Scholarship Winners Announced

SPOKANE, WA - Banner Bank and the Spokane Indians announced today the winners of their college scholarships for this year. Annika Swanson (West Valley High School), Ashley Connors (West Valley High School), James Wasem (John R. Rodgers High School), Kelly Ann Hennessey (Liberty High School), Rebecca Southwick (Northwest Christian), and Stephanie Ruygrok (Deer Park High School) will each receive $500 towards their college tuition.

"Banner Bank's support for education, youth and the communities we serve is demonstrated by our partnership with the Spokane Indians in awarding these scholarships," said Mark J. Grescovich, President of Banner Bank, "The outstanding recipients for this year represent the future and we are proud to support them in their quest to further their education."

The scholarships are awarded based on achievements in four areas: scholarship, leadership, character, and community involvement. The scholarships were open to any student who attends a high school in Spokane County.

"Each year the pool of scholarship applicants just keeps getting better," said Spokane Indians president Andy Billig. "We are pleased to partner with Banner Bank to help these outstanding students as they start their college career."

This marks the fifth year that Banner Bank and the Spokane Indians have team up to give out scholarships. In total, Banner Bank and the Indians have awarded 26 students a total of $13,000.

The scholarship winners and their families will be hosted at the Spokane Indians game on June 19th and honored for their achievement during a pre-game ceremony.

The Spokane Indians are the Short-Season Class "A" affiliate of the Texas Rangers.
