Fightins Prospect Profile: Roman Quinn
Over the course of the coming weeks, Fightins.com will profile the Top 10 Prospects in the Philadelphia Phillies organization according to MLB.com. Analysts project that 9 of the Top 10 players could see time in Baseballtown during the 2015 season, making Baseballtown the place to see to witness the stars of tomorrow as they make their way to the City of Brotherly Love.
Wherever he's been, Philadelphia Phillies no.4 prospect Roman Quinn has set the base paths ablaze with his breakneck speed that has earned him praise as one of the fastest prospects in the game. In 2013 with single-A Lakewood, Quinn was clocked rounding the bases at 14 seconds after hitting a inside-the-park home run. It's also not a rare occurrence for Quinn to truck from home to first base in less than four seconds.
The 21-year old has battled through some untimely injuries over the past two seasons, but it looks like he came into his own with advanced-A Clearwater in 2014. Making the switch from shortstop to centerfield, Quinn improved upon his 2013 and hit .257 with seven home runs in 88 games while tying his career-high of 32 stolen bases.
Quinn's stock is surging heading into 2015 as he is coming off a breakout Arizona Fall League season. The Floridian was selected to play for the Scottsdale Scorpions and named to both the league's Fall Stars Game and Top Prospects Team after leading the league with 14 stolen bases and finishing second with 19 runs scored.
