Rome Braves Mascots Romey and Roxie Married
The Rome Braves announce that mascots Roxie and Romey were married at 5pm Saturday, January 31st, 2015, on the banks of the Etowah River in a private ceremony.
Homer the Brave performed the double-ring ceremony before an altar adorned with votive candles and magnolia leaves.
A program of wedding music was provided by the Atlanta Braves Heavy Hitters. Selections included "We Will Rock You" by Queen, "Take me out to the Ballgame", "Centerfield" by John Fogerty, and of course the Tomahawk Chop. The wedding march was played by Rome Braves organist Ruby Marquard.
Mrs. Ippi of Pearl, Mississippi, a friend of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a formal-length, navy Braves jersey and carried a hand-tied bouquets of ivory roses, antique green hydrangeas, and green winter berries. The bouquets were tied with red and blue ribbons.
The bride, escorted by her dear friend Chopper of Gwinnett, Georgia, chose a formal length white Braves jersey. In her hair, she wore a white cathedral veil made of tulle with satin hemline and a comb encrusted with ivory seed pearls and Austrian crystals in her hair. Her bouquet was hand-tied and featured antique green hydrangeas as the base with tea green roses and chartreuse green orchids. Green winter berries were woven throughout the arrangement and the bouquet was tied with white ribbons.
Mr. Ippi of Pearl, Mississippi, a friend of the groom, served as best man.
A reception in honor of the newly wedded couple will be held Thursday February 12th at the Three Rivers Club, State Mutual Stadium from 3:00-6:00pm. The public is invited to attend.
The couple will honeymoon along the rivers of Northwest Georgia.
