Jupiter Hammerheads Announce 2015 Field Staff

February 4, 2015

JUPITER, Fla. - The Miami Marlins have announced that Brian Schneider will return as the manager for its Advanced-A affiliate, the Jupiter Hammerheads, in 2015. Rejoining Schneider in Jupiter will be pitching coach Joe Coleman and hitting coach Corey Hart.

2015 will mark Schneider's second season with the Hammerheads after leading the team to 50 wins in 2014, his first season as a Minor League manager. Prior to managing, Schneider spent 13 seasons as a catcher in the Major Leagues with the Montreal Expos, Washington Nationals, New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies. The Jacksonville, Florida native was a fifth round draft pick by the Expos in the 1995 MLB Draft before making his big league debut five years later in May of 2000.

Schneider is also a Hammerhead alumnus as he played 82 games for Jupiter when it was an Expos affiliate in 1998, which also marked the Hammerheads inaugural season.

Coleman returns to the Hammerheads for his fourth season in the Marlins organization. In 2014, Coleman was able to coach the pitching staff to a team ERA of 4.22. Prior to 2012, Coleman spent five seasons as pitching coach for the Lakeland Flying Tigers. He was a first round selection of the Washington Senators in 1965 and pitched for 15 years at the Major League level with the Senators, Detroit Tigers, Chicago Cubs, Oakland Athletics, Toronto Blue Jays, San Francisco Giants and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Hammerheads will also have Corey Hart in the dugout as the hitting coach for the fourth straight season. Last year he was able to guide the Hammerhead hitters to a team average .259, up five points from the .254 average set in 2013. Previously, he spent two years with the Marlins Double-A affiliate, the Jacksonville Suns. From 2006-2009, he coached in the Milwaukee Brewers system, where he also played in 2005. Hart, a former infielder, was originally drafted in the 23rd round by the Kansas City Royals in 1997.

Also re-joining the staff in 2015 will be athletic trainer Rich Ramirez, strength and conditioning coach Robert Reichert. This will be Ramirez's second season on the Hammerheads staff. Ramirez formerly worked in the Marlins system as the athletic trainer/strength and conditioning coach for the Gulf Coast Marlins from 2005-2006. His other baseball experience includes time spent as the assistant athletic trainer/strength and conditioning coach for Team Puerto Rico in the 2006 World Baseball Classic and head athletic trainer for the Harrisburg Senators from 2002-2005.

Reichert will also be returning to the staff in 2015 for his third season with the Hammerheads as strength and conditioning coach. Reichert graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Exercise Science.

Also joining Schneider and his coaching staff will be Joe Lisewski and Jose Ceballos. Lisewski will serve as the video coach in 2015 for the Jupiter Hammerheads, while Ceballos will serve as an additional assistant coach to the club. Ceballos is a native of Caracas, Venezuela and was a catcher in the Marlins organization until 2013. Ceballos made it as high as Double-A affiliate, the Jacksonville Suns, in 2012 with playing stints for the Hammerheads in 2008, 2010, and 2011.
