Drillers Renew Ties with iHeart Media
The Tulsa Drillers have announced that the team's radio broadcasts this season will again be heard on iHeart Media (formerly known as Clear Channel Radio) station AM 1430, The Buzz. The 2015 season will mark the 30th consecutive year that the Drillers and iHeart Media have partnered for game broadcasts, and it will be the 11th straight season that The Buzz has been the radio home for Drillers Baseball.
The Buzz is a 24-hour sports station that is also the radio home in the Tulsa area for University of Oklahoma sports.
The Drillers also announced that Dennis Higgins will return for his eighth season as the play-by-play broadcaster for the club. Higgins will continue to bring his major league experience to Tulsa listeners, having previously served as a radio broadcaster with the San Francisco Giants. In addition to his major league work, Higgins has nearly 21 years of experience calling action in the minor leagues.
"We are very happy to be celebrating our 30th straight year of affiliation with iHeart Media," said Drillers Media and Public Relations Director Brian Carroll. "It's a nice benefit for our fans, knowing they can tune in to the same station they've grown up with, as they listen to Dennis Higgins describe every pitch this season."
All 140 Drillers regular season games will be aired live. Occasional scheduling conflicts, such as weekday, afternoon games, will force some games to air on KAKC, AM 1300.
All of the broadcasts will also be available over the Internet at TulsaDrillers.com or at BuzzTulsa.com. The broadcasts can also be heard on most mobile devices through the free I Heart Radio App.
The opening broadcast of the 2015 season will take place on Thursday, April 9th when the Drillers begin their first Texas League campaign as a Los Angeles Dodgers affiliate at home against the San Antonio Missions.
