July 23, 2006
Steve Garrabrants laced a go-ahead two-run single in the seventh inning as visiting Tennessee beat Mississippi, 4-2, on Saturday.

With the bases loaded and the score tied, 1-1, Garrabrants stroked his only hit of the game into right field. The 24-year-old center fielder had been in a 2-for-23 slump.

Jesus Cota and James D'Antona slugged solo homers for the Smokies (16-14), who won their second straight. Phil Avlas contributed two hits.

Tennessee reliever Jonathan Castellanos (2-0) got the win with a scoreless sixth, allowing one hit and one walk while fanning one. Bill White recorded four outs for his third save.

Mississippi reliever Arthur Santos (1-3) surrendered three runs on four hits and two walks with one strikeout in three innings.

Barbaro Canizares knocked in a run and Luis Hernandez contributed two hits for the Braves (11-19), who have lost two in a row. --Ryan McConnell/MLB.com
