Chiefs Retire #31 for Greg Maddux Tonight!
Friday June 11 is a date 25 years in the making for Chiefs fans as one of the greatest pitchers in Major League Baseball history, Greg Maddux gets his number 31 retired at O'Brien Field. Maddux was 13-9 for the Chiefs as a 19-year-old in 1985 and made his Cubs debut the next September. Four Cy Young Awards, 355 wins 3,371 strikeouts, one World Series ring, eight All-Star games and 18 Gold Gloves later, Maddux returns to Peoria to have his number retired and throw out a first pitch. The jersey retirement ceremony begins at 6:30 and the gates open at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are available at the O'Brien Field Box Office or Online.
Friday also features an appearance by Myron Noodleman, the New Clown Prince of Baseball as he entertains the fans on Nerd Night. There will be a post-game Pitch-In for Charity Tennis Ball Toss with a chance for fans to win prizes including a 60" LG HDTV provided by Sherman's.
