Kernels offering two camps

June 14, 2005
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- A very limited number of spots remain for two upcoming youth baseball camps hosted by the Cedar Rapids Kernels at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The Kernels offer two camps, one for ages 7-10 and another for ages 11-14. The 7-10 camp begins on Wednesday and runs through Friday, while the 11-14 camp starts Thursday, June 23 and ends Saturday, June 25. The camps begin each day at 9 a.m. and end at noon.

Each year, the Kernels coaching staff and players offer area children the chance to learn the game from the pros at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The Kernels staff and players will work with children on basic baseball fundamentals like hitting, throwing, catching, and running. Each day, participants will take place in drills and receive on-field instruction.

Registrants will receive a free Kernels Youth Baseball Camp shirt, a ballpark-style lunch each day and four tickets to a Kernels game on the last day of the camp, where they will be recognized on the field prior to the game.

Cost of the three-day camps are $95 and registration forms are available on-line at www.kernels.com or by stopping by Veterans Memorial Stadium during regular business hours. Parents or guardians interested in registering children for either camp can contact camp director Seth Dohrn at 896-7611 with any questions.
