SAN ANTONIO - The Missions closed out their six-game homestand in speedy fashion, shutting out the Springfield Cardinals for the second time this series, 3-0, and allowing just one hit.
It is the third shutout of the homestand for San Antonio (28-28) as the Missions went 4-2 during their six games at The Wolff.
Missions starting pitcher Cory Luebke (2-0, 0.98) gave up one hit over six innings pitched Monday, striking out five and walking three in his second win of the season. The Missions bullpen continued the domination, not allowing a single hit in the final three innings of the game.
Brandon Gomes (5) and Bryan Oland (4) each pitched an inning and earned holds, while Craig Italiano (10) earned the save for San Antonio.
Center fielder Cedric Hunter gave San Antonio an offensive boost with a two-RBI double (10) in the sixth inning, helping put away the Cardinals (29-27) for good.
Springfield starting pitcher Nick Additon (3-5, 5.43) took the loss, giving up three runs on four hits over six innings pitched, while reliever Jason Buursma came in and pitched two innings of hitless relief for the Cards to finish the game.
The Missions will hit the road for an eight game trip to Frisco and Corpus Christi before returning home for the beginning of a 12-game homestand June 18.
The homestand will start with a bang June 17 and 18 with a Dollar Night, presented by Time Warner Cable and Ball Park, on Thursday and the famous Used Car Night on Friday presented by SSFCU.
