February 17, 2015

OKLAHOMA CITY - For the fifth straight year, the Oklahoma City Dodgers and The Oklahoman will host open auditions to sing the National Anthem at Dodgers games. The Oklahoman/Oklahoma City Dodgers National Anthem Tryouts will be held Saturday, March 21 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the center court at Penn Square Mall.

All 200 time slots for The Oklahoman/Oklahoma City Dodgers National Anthem Tryouts were filled well in advance of the event. Those who registered online have been notified of their audition times.

"All the slots were filled within a matter of days," said OKC Dodgers President/General Manager Michael Byrnes. "We're looking forward to a lot of great performances Saturday and eventually at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark."

Winners will perform at Dodgers games throughout the season, with the grand prize winner performing at the 2015 home opener on Thursday, April 9 against the Round Rock Express.

Those who are still interested in auditioning can join a standby list at Penn Square Mall beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. If the tryouts run ahead of schedule, or if a performer does not show up to their scheduled time, those in the standby line will be chosen to audition. Standby performers will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis and are encouraged to arrive early.

The judging panel will consist of editors and columnists from The Oklahoman, city officials, and community leaders. Winners will be chosen based on voice quality, creative style, and stage presence.
