TripAdvisor ranks Pelicans top attraction in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (FEBRUARY 19, 2015) - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, the Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, have moved up to the #1 ranked Myrtle Beach Attraction, according to TripAdvisor.

The Pelicans ranked third among the 35 listed Myrtle Beach attractions for most of 2014, but moved to the top spot this week. At the time of writing, TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark has 97% positive reviews, and 75% of the reviews from travelers are "excellent" (5 out of 5 score).

The club is coming off of its best season in team history in terms of attendance. The club averaged 3,652 fans per night and garnered a bevy of off-season accolades. The Carolina League awarded the Pelicans the "Complete Franchise Award from the Carolina League" along with the "Marketing and Promotional Award;" the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce gave the Pelicans the "Community Service Award;" Ballpark Digest gave the Pelicans the "Promotion of the Year" award; and the Grand Strand Happening named the Pelicans "Best Family Outing." Stadium Journey Magazine also continued to recognize the Pelicans ballpark experience, giving it top honors in the Carolina League, a fourth-place spot in Minor League Baseball, and number 32 ranking in all of sports.

TripAdvisor's rankings are calculated according to the TripAdvisor Popularity Index, which is tabulated based on traveler feedback and reflects how a property ranks compared to competitors within a geographic area. The popularity-ranking algorithm is based on three key components: quantity, quality and recency of reviews written about the property. All reviews are from authentic opinions of travelers, as the website screens every review.
