2015 San Jose Giants Looking for Host Families

San Jose, CA- In less than two months, approximately 25 San Francisco Giants minor leaguers will move to San Jose for the spring and summer to play for the San Jose Giants. These players will be in need of homes to live in while they hone their baseball skills during the 140 game regular season.

Throughout our 27 seasons, the Host Family Program has been a vital part of the players' success both on and off the field. Having the players become a part of a local family helps these young men stay grounded in an unfamiliar and new city. Many of the players come to be more than just guests, growing to be part of the family. The relationships built between families and their players makes it rewarding and exciting to see them advance through the organization and go on to play in San Francisco.

"Host families are integral to San Jose Giants players' development into homegrown champions," said Linda Pereira, San Jose Giants Director of Player Personnel. "Players' relationships with their families continue well beyond their time in San Jose, as many remain in contact while they progress towards their ultimate goal. It is incredibly gratifying to see them do well and watch them realize their dreams of playing in San Francisco."

Host families become an integral part of the fan base at Municipal Stadium. There are great activities for the families including picnics, invitations to special events, and a family season pass to all San Jose Giants home games. At the last Sunday home game of the season, host families are invited to be Baseball Buddies for the day and get a chance to go on the field with the players during the National Anthem. 

A number of homegrown champions were on the San Francisco Giants World Series team and lived with host families while playing in San Jose, including 2014 NLCS and World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner, Buster Posey and two-time Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum.  Brandon Belt, Gary Brown, Matt Cain, Brandon Crawford, Matt Duffy, Adam Duvall, Joe Panik, Juan Perez, Sergio Romo, Hunter Strickland, Andrew Susac, and Ryan Vogelsong also had host families during their tenures with the San Jose Giants.

First pitch for the 2015 San Jose Giants home opener will take place Thursday, April 16 against the Bakersfield Blaze. San Jose's 2015 season begins on Thursday, April 9 in Lancaster. The Giants will host games at Municipal Stadium on Mother's Day (May 10), Memorial Day (May 25), Father's Day (June 21) and Independence Day (July 4).
