Royals to hold tryout camp at Arvest Ballpark
The Naturals' major league parent club, the Kansas City Royals, will hold an amateur tryout camp at Arvest Ballpark on Friday, June 18th. This camp is for players who were not selected by another major league organization in the 2010 June Free Agent Draft. The tryout will be run by Lloyd Simmons, one of the Royals' Senior Amateur Scouts.
Registration will occur at 8:30 and the tryout will begin at 9:00. Please report promptly for registration in uniform and bring your own personal equipment (shoes, glove, etc.).
Participants must be at least 15 years of age, but anyone under the age of 18 must have parent or legal guardian present. Participants will be required to fill out a medical waiver.
Attendees will be evaluated on several baseball drills, including throwing, sprinting, and hitting. No pre-registration for this tryout is necessary.
This is one of several tryout camps the Royals hold annually throughout the country. Generally, a player signed from a tryout camp is sent to the club's minor league complex facilities in Surprise, AZ before being assigned to one of Kansas City's rookie-level minor league affiliates.
