Bats sale finalized Wednesday

February 25, 2015

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The sale of the majority interest in the operating rights to the Louisville Bats, originally reported on September 23, 2014, was finalized Wednesday. MC Sports Acquisition LLC, led by Stuart and Jerry Katzoff, completed the transaction with Bats owners Dan Ulmer, Ed Glasscock, Gary Ulmer, Ken Huber, Steve Trager and Mike Brown. The current ownership group will remain as minority partners in the new organization. MC Sports and its principles also own the Bowling Green Hot Rods (Class A, Midwest League) and the Reno Aces (Triple-A, Pacific Coast League).

"We are very excited to complete this sale and look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with the Louisville community and especially with the dedicated fans of this very successful baseball team," said Stuart Katzoff. "We have over the past few months built a strong working and personal relationship with Gary Ulmer and his team and are thrilled that Gary and the key personnel of the Bats will stay on with us as we move forward. Gary will remain as President, and by doing so, will continue the legacy his family has built over the past 30 years."

"We look forward to another exciting year of baseball and fan friendly entertainment at Louisville Slugger Field in 2015," said Gary Ulmer. "MC Sports and the Katzoffs are committed to Minor League Baseball and Louisville, and will bring their expertise and resources to continue to enhance the fan experience at Louisville Slugger Field."

Ed Glasscock, who has been one of the owners of the Louisville Bats for the past 30 years, is pleased with the partnership with MC Sports and the Katzoffs. "It has been an honor and a privilege for my family to have been partners with Dan and Gary Ulmer and the other partners for the past 30 years. We look forward to continuing as minority owners with MC Sports, the Katzoff Family and the other owners. We are very appreciative of the outstanding support of the Louisville fans over the past 30 years. It has been a wonderful experience," Glasscock said.

The Bats will begin their 2015 season with Opening Night on Thursday, April 9 at Louisville Slugger Field. The campaign will be both the Bats' 16th season at Louisville Slugger Field and their 16th season as the top affiliate of the National League's Cincinnati Reds.
