TEXAS RANGERS COMPLETE 2010 DRAFT

SPOKANE, WA - The Texas Rangers completed the 2010 draft this afternoon, selecting a total of 53 prospects from high schools and universities across the country over the last three days.

The Rangers drafted one player from the Northwest, University of Nevada - Reno Shortstop Kevin Rodland was taken in the 34th round by Texas. Rodland, a native of Snohomish, WA, started 160 for the Wolfpack at shortstop. He was a career .260 average hitter, with 147 hits, 14 home runs, and stole 38 bases.

Of the 53 selections, 27 were college prospect and 26 were high school prospects. A few of the notable selections were R.E. Mountain SS, British Columbia Catcher Kellin Deglan, who was regarded as one of the best catching prospects in the draft. The other is University of Connecticut Third baseman Mike Olt, who holds the Huskies career home run record and was the winner of the first Big East Home Run contest this past season.

The Rangers will assign players to Spokane sometime in the next few days and players will begin reporting to Spokane early next week for a three day mini-camp. Workouts are June 15th (12:30 p.m.), June 16th (12:30 p.m.), and June 17th (6 p.m.). All workouts are open to the public and free of charge.
