Jays keep adding, sign Dayan Viciedo
The Toronto Blue Jays have signed OF DAYAN VICIEDO to a minor league contract with an invitation to Major League spring training.
Viciedo is the third veteran added by the Blue Jays since arriving in Florida. The club signed two-time Cy Young award winner Johan Santana on Thursday and outfielder Chris Dickerson last Saturday.
Viciedo, 25, spent the first six years of his career with the Chicago White Sox after signing with the team as an amateur free agent in 2008. In 483 career Major League games, the right-handed hitter averaged .254 (425-1,675) with 73 doubles, 66 home runs and 211 RBI. He hit a career-high 25 homers with the White Sox in 2012 and added 21 more in 145 games with the team last season. In 2014, Viciedo averaged .231 with 22 doubles and 58 RBI.
