Express celebrate mascot's birthday
The discovery left Spike shocked and determined to prove he's ready for adulthood.
As a result, Spike has invited several of his mascot buddies out to The Dell Diamond for his birthday, this Sunday, July 30, where he'll offer several lessons in adulthood. Spike's invite list includes friends from across the state, including The Coyote from the San Antonio Spurs, Hook'em from The University of Texas, Rusty from the CC Hooks and Sammy from the CC Hooks, Fang from the Austin Ice Bats, Trigger from the Austin Wranglers, Buddy B Drop from the Blood and Tissue Center, H-E-Buddy from H-E-B, Boko from Texas State, The Chicken from Plucker's and Da Bull from the Austin Toros.
To prove he's a big dog now, Spike has challenged all of his mascot buddies to a home run derby that will tee off at 6 p.m. on the field of The Dell Diamond. He's also decided to share his extra-large birthday cake with fans during the game and to give away all of the presents he receives.
To help out his real-life puppy pals, Spike and the Express are giving fans a chance to see Sunday's game for free with the donation of any new pet toy or supply item. Spike may be a dog, but he loves all animals, so gifts meant for cats are also welcome.
Each fan donating an item will receive one free general admission ticket good for Sunday's (July 30) game. All gifts donated for Spike's birthday will go to the Humane Society of Williamson County, which will be near the home plate entrance accepting the donations.
Spike and the Human Society would like high quality dry and canned foods such as IAMS, Science Diet and Purina, kitty litter, powdered formula, bowls and buckets, blankets, towels, toys, portable kennels and large wire crates.
