Christian Music Act Newworldson to Perform Before Whitecaps Game on August 3
Newworldson lit the Christian music scene on fire when they burst onto the scene in 2007 with the release of their first album, "Salvation Station." Within a short time the Canadian quartet found themselves winning awards and playing with some of the genre's titans. Taking musical cues from the likes of Jamie Cullum, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, and Spencer Davis, Newworldson's unique sound earned the band awards (Best New Artist and Roots/Folk Album of the Year at the Gospel Music Awards in Canada) and, more importantly, an opening slot of Christian music giants Newsboys on that group's 2007-2008 tour. In 2008, the band was nominated for a Juno award (Canada's equivalent to the Grammys) for Best Christian/Gospel Album of the year. Their debut album peaked at #34 on the Billboard Christian Music charts.
Newworldson released their second album (named "Newworldson") in February 2010, and its first single, "There Is A Way," peaked at number 1 in Canada and number 2 on Billboard Magazine's Christian Music Charts. The album ranked as high as 15th on the Billboard Christian Music charts and eighth on Billboard's Heatseekers Album charts. The concert at Fifth Third Ballpark is part of a world-wide summer tour that has taken the band to the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, Austria, Sweden, Canada and the U.S.
