Vogt collects three-hits,drives in three runs in win
June 14, 2010
JUPITER, Fla. -- Even the All-Star Break could not slow down the momentum of the surging Charlotte Stone Crabs.

Stephen Vogt went 3-for-5 with three RBI's to back yet another solid performance from Shane Dyer as the Stone Crabs downed the Jupiter Hammerheads by an 8-1 final score on Monday.

Charlotte has blistered through June thus far, improving their record in the month to 10-2. The club also stands at a franchise-record 11-games over the .500 mark.

A win by the Stone Crabs and a loss by the Bradenton Marauders (33-28) has opened up a three game advantage for Charlotte in the FSL South Division's first half race. Nine games remain before the second half begins.

Making his first start in left field this season, Vogt was part of all three Stone Crabs rallies. Charlotte collected five consecutive hits in the third and fourth innings to cash in for three-runs in each frame.

Aside from Vogt's three-hit night, Isaias Velasquez, Tim Beckham and Greg Sexton all turned in two-hit performances. Wrigley collected two RBI's to tie the franchise record of 45, set by Matt Fields last season.

Dyer (3-2) limited the Hammerheads to just one run on eight hits over six innings of work to turn in his sixth consecutive quality start since earning a call-up to the Florida State League. He finished the night with three strikeouts against just one walk.

The bullpen's string of dominance continued in the win as well, with Michael Jarman tossing three blank frames to earn his second save of the season. Those three innings give the Stone Crabs relievers a streak of 43 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings.

With the slew of victories the team has piled up of late, Charlotte (36-25) now boasts the second best record in the league. The Dunedin Blue Jays (37-25) have the lead by one victory, with an equal number of losses.

The series continues on Tuesday as Matt Moore (1-7) takes the mound in search of his second straight winning decision. Johnny Dorn (2-3) will get the ball for Jupiter. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
