Kingsport Mets release 2015 schedule
KINGSPORT, TN. - The Kingsport Mets have released their schedule for the 2015 Appalachian League season.
The Mets play 68 scheduled games, including 34 at home from June through September. The Mets open up at home with two games against the Johnson City Cardinals, June 23-24. The 2015 season concludes with a three game home series, August 30- September 1, as they host the Danville Braves.
Home games Monday-Friday will begin at 7:00pm and beginning this season, Saturday home games will begin at 7:00pm as well. Sunday home games will be moved to a 4:00pm start.
The Kingsport Mets will host a "Camp Day" on Tuesday, July 7th. Camp Day, which will start at 11am, is a scheduled day game designed to allow local camps to bring out their kids to a game as well as giving fans the opportunity to experience a day game at Hunter Wright Stadium.
In 2014, the Mets finished in third place in the West Division with a 34-34 overall record, including a 19-14 record at home. The Mets have won the Appalachian League championship twice in their history, 1988 and 1995. The 1995 championship was in their inaugural season at Hunter Wright Stadium.
2015 marks the 20th anniversary of Hunter Wright Stadium. The city-owned ballpark opened its gates in June of 1995 and has been home to the Kingsport Mets ever since. The stadium is named for former multi-term Mayor of Kingsport, Hunter Wright. Mr. Wright was an instrumental part of the planning and building of what is now Hunter Wright Stadium.
