Event to Feature Tour Stops, Social Media Contests and More
March 13, 2015

SALISBURY, Md. -- The Delmarva Shorebirds, Class "A" affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, are proud to once again spread the excitement of the upcoming season with the 20 Days of Opening Day campaign, which will begin on March 19.

In the 20 days leading up to the Shorebirds first game of the season, which is scheduled for April 9, the team will hold a variety of contests and tour stops to help the region break out of the winter blues and start thinking summer.

"As we kick off our 20th season celebration, we feel that it was only fitting to extend the festivities of Opening Day to 20 days," Shorebirds general manager Chris Bitters said. "We are very excited to head out into the community and get the season started right."

There will be plenty of opportunities for fans to win free tickets to Opening Night through a variety of social media contests listed below.

Selection Sunday - Every Sunday, the Shorebirds will post a poll to Instagram featuring two players from our 20-year history. To participate, fans simply have to comment with the player they like more to be entered to win Opening Night tickets.

Trending Tuesday - The Shorebirds will post a tweet featuring our hashtag for the season, #Shorebirds20th. Fans who retweet the post will be entered to win free tickets to Opening Night.

Win Stuff Wednesday - A fan favorite from last year will return. The Shorebirds will post a photo with baseball related items to Facebook. The fans who correctly guess the number of items in the photo will be entered in a drawing for tickets.

The Shorebirds will also be out in the community on Meet Us Mondays, where representatives from the team will attend a restaurant during lunch hours. As an added bonus, those who mention "Shorebirds 20th" when making an order during that period will receive a special offer from that eatery. A list of Meet Us Monday stops are below.
