Career Highlights: 2015 - Entered the season as MLB.com's No. 6 Astros prospect and No. 92 overall. Is a member of Houston's 40-man roster. 2014 - In first 13 games went 3-1 with a 2.68 ERA, while being limited to 5.0 innings or fewer each time out. Had a stellar May in which he posted a 1.50 ERA in 5 games (4 starts), walking 4 and whiffing 23 in 18.0 innings. Tossed 7.0 or more innings 3 times and did not allow an earned run in any of the starts. July 1 at Beloit went 7.0 innings and allowed 1 unearned run on 4 hits with 7 strikeouts; July 19 against Lake County went 7.0 shutout frames, gave up just 3 hits and fanned 8; threw 8.0 scoreless innings August 5 against Burlington, yielding 3 hits to go with 9 strikeouts. Struck out 9.7 hitters per-9.0-innings. That start earned him Midwest League Pitcher of the Week honors for August 4-11. For the full week he was 2-0 and allowed 1 ER in 13.0 IP. He did not walk a batter and struck out 14. At home went 5-2 with a 2.79 ERA, while going 3-4 with a 5.88 earned run average on the road. Fared better as a starter than as a reliever, posting a 3.46 ERA in 19 starts and 7.53 mark when he came out of the bullpen. Held right-handed hitters to a .225 (54-240) batting average. 2013 - Led the New York-Penn League in ERA (1.96), ranked 2nd in WHIP (0.96), 3rd in strikeouts (78) and 5th in batting average against (.209). Named a NYPL All-Star. Tri-City Pitcher of the Month for July when he went 1-1 with a 1.77 ERA, 3 walks and 23 strikeouts in 5 games (2 starts). Allowed more than 2 runs in a game just once all season, in his final start - September 1 at Lowell when he gave up 4 ER in 7.0 IP. Made 2 playoff starts and went 1-0 with a 1.42 ERA and 13 punchouts in 12.2 IP. Tri-City won the NYPL title. Held right-handed hitters to a .194 batting average; lefties hit .226. Allowed 2 runs or fewer in 13 of 14 outings. Posted 10.2 strikeouts per-9.0-innings. 2012 - Went a combined 6-1 with a 3.06 ERA in 13 games (9 starts). Picked up a win in 3 straight games June 23-July 6, yielding 3 ER over 18.1 IP. GCL Astros Pitcher of the Month for July after going 3-0 with a 1.96 ERA in 2 starts plus 2 relief appearances. Promoted to Greeneville following July 24 start and win over the GCL Cardinals. Struggled in first Appalachian League start, allowing 5 R, 4 ER on 7 H in 3.2 IP and took a no-decision. Settled down, posting a 4.37 ERA in last 5 starts of the year. At home, went 1-1 with a 3.29 ERA, while posting a 7.11 road earned run average. Held left-handed hitters to a .189 batting average while with Greeneville. 2011 - Earned run average improved monthly: 7.27 in June, 4.67 in July and 3.00 in August. At home posted a 2.37 ERA, while establishing a 5.52 mark on the road. 2010 - Made pro debut August 2 at the DSL Pirates, allowing 2 runs, 1 earned on 5 hits in 4.0 innings. Career Highlights: 2015 - Entered the season as the No. 10 prospect in the Astros' system according to MLB.com. 2014 - Went 2-for-3 in pro debut for GCL Astros on July 3. Played first game for the ValleyCats July 7 and went 2-for-2 with 3 runs scored and a stolen base. Started Tri-City tenure by hitting in 9 consecutive games and 23 of first 25 games at a .354 clip. Notched a 4-for-5 night July 27 at Aberdeen with 4 runs scored. Did not go hitless in back-to-back contests until August 12-13 - 27 games into pro career. First pro home run was August 16 at Staten Island. Hit .355 in 31 at-bats against southpaws. Career Notes: Selected in the sixth round of the 2011 draft by Texas. College Notes: In 2014 hit .260 with 3 long balls and 29 runs batted in despite missing 25 games with a broken hamate bone in his right wrist. Named to Charlottesville Regional All-Tournament Team, going 4-12 with 6 RBIs. As a sophomore in 2013 batted .293-7-48. A 2012 Freshman All-American, hit .288 with 7 home runs and 50 RBIs in his first year on campus. His 8 triples ranked 10th nationally and tied the UVA single-season record.

Career Highlights: 2014 - Combined to hit .253 with 5 home runs and 21 RBIs in 67 games with Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa in the Cubs system. Broke camp with the Triple-A club and hit .353 in first 13 games. In final 18 contests, batted just .189. Posted a .440 OBP with Iowa, drawing 27 walks against 13 strikeouts. Sent to Double-A following game on June 24. Posted a 3-hit day July 25 against Mississippi with 2 runs scored, a home run and 3 RBIs. On-base percentage dropped to .339 at Double-A. Hit .276 against right-handers, but struggled against lefties (.150). Between the two stops, threw out 25 percent (18 of 71) of runners who tried to steal on him. 2013 - Registered multi-hit games in 4 of first 7 games (8-for-22). Proceeded to fall into a month-long slump from April 23-May 23 (3-for-40) that dropped average from .308 to .167. Hit safely in 7 straight games and 9 of 10 from August 3-27 to bump batting average from .197 to .217. 2012 - Began the season by finishing out his 50-game suspension, handed down in August 2011. Returned to game action on May 2. Collected 3 hits in his third game back, May 8, going 3-for-4 with a double. Went hitless in his last 8 games. 2011 - Combined to hit .248 with 8 home runs and 23 runs batted in between Daytona and Tennessee. Started his Double-A tenure by going 11-for-20 (.550) with 5 HR and 12 RBIs in first 9 games from May 14-27. Batting average dropped monthly: .550 in May, .250 in June, .238 in July, and .100 in August. Suspended 50 games on August 11 for violating the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Career Notes: For his career has thrown out 33 percent (126 of 387) of would-be base stealers. Originally selected by Chicago (NL) in the 7th round of the June 2008 draft. Played at Moody High School in Corpus Christi. As a senior hit .380 with 12 HR, 55 RBIs, while posting a 14-0 record and a 0.00 ERA on the mound. That performance earned him all-state and all-american recognition. The Trojans won the state title in 2004. Was also an all-state quarterback in football. College Notes: Transferred to Oklahoma State for his junior season and hit .298 with 5 HR and 31 RBIs in 57 games. Played first two college seasons at Houston. As a sophomore hit .263 with 9 HR and 24 RBIs, while posting a 1-1 record on the mound. Named a Freshman All-American by Baseball America and Louisville Slugger in 2006, hitting .288 with 8 HR, 30 RBIs, a 6-3 record on the mound and a 3.00 ERA.
