Morillo, Drillers best Wranglers
Morillo matched his season high in strikeouts and fell one out shy of his longest outing of the season. He yielded two runs on seven hits and two walks and won for the second time in three starts.
The 22-year-old righthander bounced back from a shaky outing last Friday in which he was shelled for seven runs in four innings.
Morillo (8-7) gave up an RBI single to Billy Butler in the first inning and another to Angel Sanchez in the third. But he retired 13 of the final 16 batters he faced and exited after striking out Chris Lubanski with a runner on first base in the seventh.
Jentry Beckstead retired the only four batters he faced -- fanning three -- and Joshua Newman worked around a hit in the ninth for his second save.
Alvin Colina and Seth Smith homered off Billy Buckner in the first and Joseph Koshansky hit a two-run single in the fourth for Tulsa (18-20), which has won three consecutive games and four of five.
Buckner (2-2) was shelled for five runs on six hits and six walks in just 4 2/3 innings.
Alex Gordon had a single in three at-bats to extend his hitting streak to 14 games for the Wranglers (21-18), who have dropped three straight games following a four-game win streak.--Carl Dispoto/MLB.com
