August 5, 2006
The Brooklyn Cyclones extended their winning streak to 12 games with a 9-5 victory over the Tri-City ValleyCats on Friday as Dustin Martin hit a two-run triple in the fourth inning.

The Cyclones (27-17) trailed, 4-0, before Mark Wright and Timothy Grogan hit back-to-back RBI singles in the fourth and Joe Holden delivered a two-run single. Martin followed with his fourth triple in five days to plate the go-ahead runs with two outs.

The 22-year-old left fielder leads the New York-Penn League with six triples.

Wright added a sacrifice fly in the seventh and Grogan hit a two-run double to cap the scoring as the Cyclones remained unbeaten since July 25. Brooklyn has climbed to the top of the McNamara Division, one game ahead of second-place Staten Island.

Reliever Jeremy Mizell (2-0) gave up one run on four hits while striking out two in four innings for the win. The 23-year-old right-hander had not allowed an earned run in his first 10 appearances.

Andrew Kroeker drilled a leadoff shot in the second for his second homer of season and second in as many days. Christopher Johnson hit a two-run double in the third and Tim Torres delivered an RBI single in the seventh for the ValleyCats (26-18).

Reliever Casey Hudspeth (2-2) surrendered four runs on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts in 1 1/2 innings.
