Matt Zaleski Named IL Pitcher of the Week
Charlotte Knights Starting Pitcher's Gem Gives Him Award
FORT MILL, S.C. - Charlotte Knights pitcher Matt Zaleski has been named the International League's Pitcher of the Week. Zaleski made one start for the Knights last week pitching 7.0 shutout innings on June 18th at the Rochester Red Wings en route to his fifth win of the season.
The 28-year-old right hander from North Aurora, Illinois set a season high with eight strikeouts against the Red Wings. Over his last five starts he has allowed just four earned runs off 13 hits. Opponents are hitting just .212 (62-293) off Zaleski which is best amongst Knights starting pitchers and fourth best in the International League.
Zaleski is the second Knights pitcher to be named the league's Pitcher of the Week. Knights right handed starter Carlos Torres has twice been honored earlier this season.
