Alex Sanabia Promoted to Marlins

June 23, 2010
JACKSONVILLE, FL - Suns starter Alex Sanabia has been promoted to the National League's Florida Marlins. He joins the Marlins roster and is active for their series against the Baltimore Orioles effective Tuesday, June 22.

Sanabia was one of the top Southern League pitchers in 2010, helping the Suns to a first-half division championship and confounding hitters throughout the year. Seeing his first action in AA, Sanabia was among the league leaders at the time of his promotion, second in the league in ERA (2.03), while leading the league in batting average against (.194), WHIP (0.89) and placing fourth in innings pitched (84 1/3).

The San Diego, CA, native was the Marlins' 32nd-round selection in the 2006 draft. He was a mid-season All-Star for the Florida State League's Jupiter Hammerheads in 2009, and was named Southern League Pitcher of the Week on May 3, 2010.
