Phillies Triple-A Wins Third Straight

The Phillies Triple-A Spring Training squad (6-3) notched their third straight win this afternoon, using a 17-hit outburst to defeat the Yankees team 9-2.

1B Chris McGuiness (2-3, 2B, 3 RBI, R), C Tommy Joseph (3-3, 3 RBI), OF Ben Revere (3-6, 2 2B, 3 R), INF/OF Chase d'Arnaud (2-4, RBI) and SS Tyler Greene (2-4, 2B, R) all made key contributions offensively for the Phillies side.

McGuiness played for Indianapolis (AAA) as a member of the Pirates organization in 2014. He hit .264-9-54 in 126 G with the team. The Charleston, S.C. native was signed by the Phillies as a minor league free agent in December of 2014. McGuiness has also made stops in the Red Sox and Rangers systems.

LHP Joely Rodriguez (5.0 IP, 3 H, ER, 2 K) looked strong once again on the mound. The trio of LHP Adam Loewen (2.0 IP, H, ER, 2 BB, 3 K), RHP Seth Rosin (1.0 IP) and RHP Hector Neris (1.0 IP, K) followed suit with good performances of their own.

Rosin spent time with both the Rangers and Phillies organizations in 2014. The University of Minnesota product posted a 1-0 record with a 6.75 ERA in 3 G with the Rangers. While with the Phillies organization, Rosin was 2-2 with a 2.29 ERA in 26 G for Reading (AA) and 1-3 with a 6.26 ERA in 17 G (1 GS) with Lehigh Valley. He fanned 20 batters in 23.0 IP during his time with the IronPigs.

The Phillies Triple-A Spring Training squad will look to run their winning streak to 4 when they will face the Yankees team on Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at the Yankees complex.
