For every baseball player growing up, the ultimate dream is to one day put on a uniform and play in the Major Leagues - Domonic Brown is now one step closer to reaching that dream. The mutli-talented outfielder, and top overall prospect in the Phillies organization, has been promoted from Reading to Lehigh Valley.

The Florida native was taken by the Phillies in the 20th round of the 2006 MLB June Amateur Draft, and began his professional career at the age of 18 playing for the Philadelphia Gulf Coast team. From 2007-2008, the athletic lefty played for Clearwater (A), Williamsport (LoA), and Lakewood (A). His career truly began to blossom as his talent came into fruition in 2009.

Brown started the 2009 season back with the Phillies team in the Gulf Coast League. After just three games, he made the quick transition to the Threshers in Single-A ball, where he played 66 games. During that span, Brown opened eyes across the baseball world, hitting .303 with 11 home runs and 44 RBI's.

He would then be called up to Double-A Reading to finish out the season. In 37 games that year for the R-Phils, he had nine doubles, four triples, three home runs, 20 RBI's, and eight stolen bases. Brown became the centerpiece of the R-Phils club this year as the everyday right fielder, and backed up his top prospect ranking with an unbelievable first few months.

After having a tremendous spring training, including home runs in a number of games with the Phillies, he continued his hot-hitting and all around great play here in Baseballtown. In 16 games during the month of April, Brown hit .308 with a home run and seven RBI's. He upped his play to another level in May, hitting .300 with eight home runs and 21 RBI's. June proved to be his best month in an R-Phils uniform however, as the lefty went on absolute tear. In 21 games for Reading, Brown hit an incredible .345, with six more home runs, 19 RBI's, six doubles, and four stolen bases.

After the most recent homestand in which the R-Phils won five of six games, Brown was officially promoted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. There is no doubt that the future is very bright for this young star, and the memories he made in Reading will last a lifetime. The R-Phils and fans here in Baseballtown wish Domonic Brown the very best of luck with the Iron Pigs and wherever his career may take him next.
