Drillers Open New Era as Dodgers Affiliate on April 9

Tulsa to host San Antonio & Corpus Christi in opening 6-game homestand

The Tulsa Drillers open their 2015 season on Thursday, April 9 when they host the San Antonio Missions, the AA affiliate of the San Diego Padres. The game will mark the beginning of a new era in Tulsa professional baseball. It will be the first time the Drillers take the field as an affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. 

The game is the first of a six-game homestand that will run through Tuesday, April 14. The Drillers will host San Antonio for three games, April 9-11. The Corpus Christi Hooks, the affiliate of the Houston Astros, will be in town for the second half of the six-game stretch, April 12-14.

Starting times for all three games in the series against San Antonio are scheduled for 7:05 PM. First pitch for the Sunday, April 12 game against Corpus Christi is scheduled for 2:05 PM, while first pitch for the Monday, April 13 game will take place at 7:05PM. 

The Drillers will wrap up the opening home stint with an afternoon game against Corpus Christi on Tuesday, April 14. First pitch for the homestand finale is slated for 12:05PM. 

In addition to all the Opening Night festivities that are listed below, other promotions in the first homestand will include News on 6 Friday Night Fireworks on April 10, Tulsa's Channel 8 Grand Slam Saturday and Hornsby Build-A-Bear on April 11 and Daytime Baseball on Sunday, April 12 as well as on Tuesday, April 14. The complete promotional list for the opening homestand is below. 

Individual tickets for the opener and the other five games in the homestand are currently available for purchase online at TulsaDrillers.com, in person at the ONEOK Field Ticket Office (201 N. Elgin Avenue) or over the phone at (918) 744-5901.

Since moving to downtown Tulsa in 2010, the Drillers are 3-2 in home openers at ONEOK Field.

OPENING NIGHT PARADE: The festivities will begin with the Drillers' annual Opening Night Parade! The parade will begin at 6:00 PM and will end at approximately 6:45 PM. Fans can line up along Greenwood Avenue and Archer Street, which run along the adjacent east and south sides of ONEOK Field. The parade will begin at OETA Tulsa (across from OSU-Tulsa) and conclude at the Oil Derrick Entrance of ONEOK Field at the corner of Archer Street and Elgin Avenue. The parade will feature the Tulsa Fire Department, the Shriners, the Young Marines, a US Army Anti-Tank unit, the US Army Corp of Engineers, the Tulsa Central Band, the Carver Middle School Dance Squad, Art cars, local Little League Teams, and Hornsby!

$2 TUESDAYS RETURN: The popular 2 Works For You $2 Tuesday promotion returns this year and will be the featured promotion at the final game of the homestand on April 14. Fans can purchase $2 tickets on the General Admission Lawn as well as $2 soft drinks, hot dogs, soft pretzels, popcorn boxes and Mazzio's pizza slices. It is the first afternoon game to feature this popular promotion.

OPENING NIGHT!
Baseball returns to Tulsa when the Drillers play their first game of the 2015 season at ONEOK Field! Opening night activities are brought to you by FOX23, CPR of Tulsa, along with FM 102.3 and AM 740 News Talk KRMG. Dodgers great Ron Cey (nicknamed "The Penguin") will be on hand to throw out the first pitch and sign autographs. Pre-game festivities for Opening Night will also include a special introduction by Hornsby with the help of the Union Band.

THIRSTY THURSDAY
Just in case Opening Night is not enough incentive, it is also the first Thirsty Thursday of the year. Twelve ounce servings of Miller Lite and Coors Lite draught beers and 16 ounce servings of Pepsi products will all be on sale for only $1 each.

All fans will receive a 2015 Tulsa Drillers schedule magnet from Mazzio's when they enter the stadium.  

RALLY TOWELS
Special Drillers Rally Towels will be passed out at the Arvest and Oil Derrick Entrances, courtesy of CPR of Tulsa.

Following the game is the first News On 6 Friday Night Fireworks display of the season! It is presented by Saint Francis Health System, 98.5 KVOO and News On 6.

 

Saturday, April 11 . . . San Antonio Missions (7:05 PM) - Gates Open at 6:00 PM

TULSA'S CHANNEL 8 GRAND SLAM SATURDAY / HORNSBY BUILD-A-BEARS
The first 1,000 fans, age 14 & under, to enter the stadium with a paid admission will receive custom Hornsby Build-A-Bears outfitted in Drillers shirts and hats, compliments of U.S. Cellular, 92.1 The Beat and Tulsa's Channel 8! Fans are also encouraged to bring a teddy bear with them from home for a special donation drive. Everyone will be asked to toss their stuffed bears onto the field during the 7th Inning Stretch. Items will be collected and donated to The Children's Hospital at Saint Francis.

 

Sunday, April 12 . . . Corpus Christi Hooks (2:05 PM) - Gates Open at 12:30 PM

2 WORKS FOR YOU KIDS EAT FREE SOUVENIR SUNDAY / KIDS PUZZLE GIVEAWAY
It's 2 News Works for You Kids Eat Free Souvenir Sunday and the first 500 fans, ages 12 and under, to enter the stadium through the Arvest and Oil Derrick Entrances will receive a free Drillers Puzzle. FREE KIDS BASEBALL SKILLS CAMP
Before the game, youth baseball and softball players will be allowed onto the field for a clinic with the Drillers players. The clinic will run from 12:45-1:30PM. Kids wishing to participate are encouraged to arrive at the stadium at 12:30PM. 

KIDS RUN THE BASES
After the game, kids can circle the bases of ONEOK Field! The line begins in the first row between sections 103 and 104.

DODGER BLUE MONDAY / MAKE A DIFFERENCE MONDAY
This is the first Dodger Blue Monday as the Drillers celebrate their affiliation with the Los Angeles Dodgers by wearing special Dodger-blue themed jerseys. Fans are encouraged to wear blue as well as certain lucky fans wearing blue will have a chance to receive Drillers/Dodgers memorabilia. GROW YOUR OWN BAT GIVEAWAY
All fans can pick up a free tree sapling from The M.E.T. to plant at home and grow their own bat! This special giveaway will be available in the Arvest Plaza as fans exit the stadium.

The first $2 Tuesday of the year is brought to you by 2 Works For You, 106.1 The Twister, and the City of Tulsa: Focus on the Four program! Fans can purchase General Admission Lawn tickets for only $2 each, while all other tickets are discounted $3 off normal prices. In addition, hot dogs, Mazzio's Pizza slices, 21 oz.
