Three Players added to the Boise Hawks Roster
The Boise Hawks, in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs, have added three players to their roster prior to this afternoon's game against the Eugene Emeralds. All three players are 2010 MLB First Year Player Draft selections and will be making their Northwest League debuts.
With the additions, the Hawks will now have 17 pitchers and 12 position players on their roster, including five players from the 2010 Draft.
Heading to Boise are:
Aaron Kurcz RHP 10th Round (Las Vegas, NV) ...went 3-3 with a 4.11 ERA as a sophomore at the College of Southern Nevada, where he was a teammate of No. 1 overall pick Bryce Harper...92-94 MPH fastball with a curve ball...struck out 52 men in 35 innings...started his college career at the Air Force Academy...was signed to play next year at Oral Roberts...made one appearance with the Mesa Cubs, tossing a scoreless inning with two strikeouts
Eric Jokisch LHP 11th Round (Virginia, IL) ...went 5-7 with a 4.39 ERA as a junior at Northwestern...features a fastball, curve, and change-up...served as the Friday starter in 2010...was the Big Ten freshman of the year in 2008 and a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American...made one appearance with the Mesa Cubs, tossing a scoreless inning with three strikeouts.
Pierre LePage IF 13th Round (Walcott, CT) ...was the leadoff hitter for Connecticut, hitting .327 with 3 homers and 57 RBI, along with 29 stolen bases...struck out only three times in 278 at bats...went 7-for-10 with two runs scored in two games with the Mesa Cubs
