Knights Score Late to Get the Win
Streaking De Aza and Threets Help Knights Win 10th of Their Last 12
FORT MILL, S.C. - With their backs against the wall, the Charlotte Knights pulled out a 3-2 victory over the Buffalo Bisons thanks to some timely hitting and quality pitching. The win for the Knights was their 10th in their last 12 games and they are just one game under .500 with a 38-39 record.
Charlotte started the scoring in the second inning with a solo home run from left fielder Stefan Gartrell. The Bisons came back to take the lead with two runs in the fifth inning. Buffalo's Mike Cervenak hit a solo home run to start of the inning and later Lucas Duda scored on a sacrifice fly from Justin Turner.
The Knights were able to come back with a two run inning of their own in the seventh, as they hit three straight doubles off the bats of Brent Morel, Rob Hudson and Alejandro De Aza. The double by De Aza knocked in the winning run and extended De Aza's hitting streak to a season best 12 games.
