Gwinnett Braves Announce 2015 Opening Day Roster

Atlanta's top three prospects, Peraza, Wisler and Foltynewicz, set to join G-Braves

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - The Gwinnett Braves, in conjunction with the Atlanta Braves, announced today their Opening Day roster for the 2015 season. Five players who have spent time with the G-Braves in the past return to the club, while 20 players appear on the Gwinnett roster for the first time.

The G-Braves are led by manager Brian Snitker (second season), pitching coach Marty Reed (fifth season), hitting coach John Moses (first season), coach Billy Nicholson (sixth season), athletic trainer Mike Graus (seventh season) and strength and conditioning coach Jason Curry (second season).

Of the 25 active players on Gwinnett's roster, five are ranked among the Atlanta Braves' top 30 prospects according to MLB.com. That group includes the organization's top three prospects, second baseman Jose Peraza (No. 1), right-hander Matt Wisler (No. 2) and right-hander Mike Foltynewicz (No. 3), plus left-hander Manny Banuelos (No. 12) and outfielder Todd Cunningham (No. 29). Peraza (No. 39) and Wisler (No. 70) are also ranked among the top 100 players in all of Minor League Baseball by MLB.com.

Cunningham, catcher Matt Kennelly, infielders Sean Kazmar and Elmer Reyes, and pitcher Kanekoa Texeira are the only active players with previous experience in Gwinnett. All but Kennelly, who last suited up for the G-Braves in 2013, played for the club last season.

Homegrown Braves players set to make their Gwinnett debuts include pitchers John Cornely, Brady Feigl and Williams Perez, catcher Braeden Schlehuber, and infielders Peraza and Barrett Kleinknecht. Outfielder Cedric Hunter, who signed with Atlanta prior to last season, also joins the G-Braves for the first time.

Banuelos, Foltynewicz and Wisler highlight the lengthy list of players that are new to the Braves' organization in 2015. That group includes pitchers David Carpenter, Michael Kohn, Aaron Kurcz, Sugar Ray Marimon, Donnie Veal and Chien-Ming Wang, infielders Pedro Ciriaco and Adonis Garcia, and outfielders Joe Benson and Eury Perez.
