6 Former RiverDogs Dot NY Yankees' Opening Day Roster
CHARLESTON, SC - As the New York Yankees begin the 2015 season at home Monday against the Toronto Blue Jays, six former Charleston RiverDogs appear on their Opening Day roster.
Pitchers Dellin Betances and Ivan Nova were former RiverDogs as was catcher J.R. Murphy. The infielders include Jose Pirela and Alex Rodriguez, while Brett Gardner is the lone former RiverDog in the outfield.
Gardner, a Holly Hill native and former College of Charleston Cougar, and A-Rod served rehab assignments in a RiverDogs' uniform.
Nova and Pirela open the season on the disabled list.
