Former RiverDogs Romine, Noesi Named to 2010 MLB All-Star Futures Game
CHARLESTON, SC - Major
League Baseball announced last week that former Charleston RiverDogs pitcher
Hector Noesi and catcher Austin Romine will appear in the 12th Annual
XM Futures Game as part of Taco Bell All-Star Sunday in Anaheim, Calif. on July
11.
Noesi, an Esperanza,
The No. 24 prospect in
the New York Yankees organization, according to Baseball America, Noesi is currently
penning masterpieces for the Eastern League's Trenton Thunder, the Double-A
Affiliate of the Yankees. The 6'2" moundman has started seven games for the
Thunder thus far this season, posting a 4-1 record with a 2.20 ERA, allowing 11
earned runs with 44 K in a total of 45.0 innings of work. Noesi will toe the
rubber for the World team in the July 11 contest.
Romine, a
The 2009 Florida State
League "Hitter of the Year" has appeared in 57 games this season with the
Trenton Thunder, with 49 at catcher and eight at DH. The 6'1" prospect is
currently batting .294, with 37 runs, five home runs and 39 RBI, and tied for
the league lead with 20 doubles.
Prior to Noesi and
Romine making their respective rosters, three former RiverDogs players have
previously participated in the pre-midsummer classic; pitcher Manny Banuelos in
2009, catcher Jesus Montero in 2008 and outfielder Jose Tabata in 2006.
