Scott Foster Named Canal Park P.A. Voice

Akron Native to Make Debut at Thursday's Home Opener
April 8, 2015

(AKRON, OHIO) April 8, 2015 - When the Akron RubberDucks put out the word they were looking for a new public address announcer, the front office was flooded with phone calls from interested voice professionals. In the end, approximately 50 individuals were invited to audition for team officials in late February. The winner of that audition was Akron native Scott Foster.

Foster will make his Canal Park debut Thursday evening, April 9th, when the RubberDucks host the Binghamton Mets in the first game of the 2015 season. His voice will begin booming over the stadium p.a. system for pre-game ceremonies shortly after the gates open at 5:00 p.m. Game time is 6:35.

"It's something I've always wanted to do," said Foster. "I figured it was now or never, so I took a shot. I'm very excited and really look forward to being part of the team."

A graduate of Hoban High School and Ashland University, Foster operates a successful DJ enterprise in Akron called "His 'N' Her's. By Foster's estimate, he serves as disc jockey for 40-50 weddings each year. A lifelong Cleveland and Ohio State sports fan, Foster resides in Akron with his wife Kathy, whom he met on the Ashland campus. The couple has three children-Jillian, Sierra and Wyatt.

"My goal is to provide a professional voice with excitement and enthusiasm," said Foster. "I hope I can make people look forward to coming out to the ballpark."

"We are excited about Scott's abilities as the new Voice of Canal Park," said RubberDucks General Manager Jim Pfander. "He brings an enthusiasm and a lot of energy as our new public address announcer, and he will play a key role in our game day show every night this season."

The Akron RubberDucks are the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. The 2015 season will be its 19th since moving to Canal Park and its second as the RubberDucks. Last season, the team attracted 350,704 fans to Canal Park, an average of 5,157 per game. The team will begin the 2015 regular season at home tomorrow, Thursday, April 9th against the defending Eastern League champions, the Binghamton Mets, at 6:35 p.m. at Canal Park.
