Harrisburg edged by Altoona in series finale

Senators split four-game series with Curve

Despite a handful of opportunities, the Harrisburg Senators were not able to take advantage in a 2-1 loss to the Altoona Curve Sunday afternoon before a crowd of 3,876 at Metro Bank Park. 

The Senators banged out seven hits and walked three times, but stranded 11 runners on the afternoon. Tony Renda continued his hot start by going 2-for-5 with two singles and a run scored. He crossed home on a Kevin Keyes RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning. Ricky Hague also pitched in a multi-hit effort, going 2-for-4.

In his Senators' debut Tim Alderson turned in five innings, allowing one run on four hits. Alderson threw 53 of 79 pitches for strikes. Bryan Harper followed and allowed the go-ahead run on a triple and a double in the sixth inning. Also in his Senators' debut, Richard Bleier kept Harrisburg close by throwing three shutout innings. The Senators finished the four-game set by allowing just six runs. 

Tomorrow night the Senators will begin their second series of the season by taking on Bowie. Matt Swynenberg will take the hill for Harrisburg against Bowie's Dylan Bundy.
