Bryan Stow to Throw Ceremonial First Pitch at Home Opener

Giants fan and former Municipal Stadium EMT who was attacked in 2011 returns to ballpark on Thursday
April 13, 2015

Who/What:    On Thursday, April 16, the San Jose Giants will host one of the most memorable and historic pregame ceremonies in their history. Bryan Stow, the lifelong Giants fan who was brutally attacked outside of Dodger Stadium in 2011, will begin the team's home opener by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch, as the San Jose Giants celebrate their 28 year affiliation of the World Champion San Francisco Giants. For the past four years, Stow, who was in a coma and suffered traumatic brain injuries as a result of the attack, has undergone daily rehabilitation and numerous surgeries. The San Jose Giants are making good on a promise made to Stow's children back in 2011, that when Bryan woke up he would return one day to Municipal Stadium and throw out the ceremonial first pitch. The entire organization is looking forward to Thursday and know that this will be the most special Opening Night they have ever had especially when Bryan steps onto the field and the promise is fulfilled in front of a packed Municipal Stadium. Thursday's home opener will mark Stow's first appearance at Municipal Stadium since he served as an EMT during San Jose Giants games and events prior to 2011. Bryan's parents, Dave and Ann, as well as his sisters, Erin and Bonnie, are expected to be in attendance for the event as well. Fans wishing to contribute to the Bryan Stow Fund, may do so on Thursday Night at any of the Municipal Stadium concessions or merchandise stands. With the donation, fans will receive two complimentary tickets to a future San Jose Giants game.
