Domonic Brown Rehab Scheduled
Phillies OF Domonic Brown - slowed since exiting a Spring Training game on March 19 due to left Achilles tendinitis -- is scheduled to continue a rehab assignment when the IronPigs continue their road trip against the Buffalo Bisons this weekend at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo, NY. Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network is the exclusive sponsor of all Major League rehabilitation appearances involving the IronPigs.
Brown, 27, started his rehab stint with Clearwater (A+) on Thursday, April 9 and has hit .294 (5-for-17) with a homer and 3 RBIs in six games with base hits in each of his last four games.
In 2014, Brown made his second consecutive Opening Day roster and set career-highs in both games (144) and doubles (22). He also batted a team-best .305 with runners in scoring position and finished among the team leaders with 63 RBIs. During his first full season in the Majors in 2013, Brown was named a National League All-Star, ranking among the top sluggers in the league with 27 homers while driving in a team-best 83 runs. The Zephyrhills, Fla. native hit 12 homers during a torrid month of May, becoming the first Phillie to have at least that many homers in a month since Ryan Howard belted 14 in August, 2006.
Brown spent parts of the 2010-12 seasons with the IronPigs and has hit a career .292 in Triple-A with 13 homers and 64 RBIs in 129 games. During his remarkable 2010 campaign, Brown was named the Paul Owens Award winner as the best player in the Phillies minor league system after beginning the year in Reading (AA) and catapulting all the way to the Major Leagues. He combined to hit .327 with an impressive 20 homers and 68 RBIs before he had his contract selected on July 28. In his Major League debut against the Arizona Diamondbacks that night, he went 2-for-3 with a double, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. His first career at-bat resulted in an RBI double against Edwin Jackson.
Brown was originally selected by the Phillies in the 20th round of the 2006 draft following a standout prep career at Redan High School (GA), where he starred at both baseball and football.
