Reimold gives Tides walk-off win

July 3, 2010
Nolan Reimold plated Jeff Salazar with a two-out double in the ninth inning, giving Norfolk a 7-6 win in front of 10,013 fans Saturday night at Harbor Park.

With the score tied at 6-6, Salazar worked a two-out walk from Clevelan Santeliz (0-4), who had struck out each of the previous four batters he faced. Reimold then lifted a slicing fly ball down the right field line that skipped past a sprinting Stefan Gartrell, allowing Salazar to race home from first without a throw and give the Tides their fourth walk-off win of the season.

Charlotte had trailed 6-5 entering the ninth, but Rob Hudson clubbed a one-out RBI double off Tides closer Dennis Sarfate (1-1) to knot the score. Hudson finished with four hits in the contest, while Sarfate blew his second straight save opportunity after opening the season 10-for-10 in save chances.

Robert Andino led Norfolk's offense with three hits and a run scored, as six different Tides batters contributed an RBI.

Jim Miller, Pat Egan and Alberto Castillo combined for 4.1 innings of shutout relief.

Josh Kroeger belted a two-run homer for the Knights, while Fernando Cortez added a two-run single.

The two clubs will continue their seven-game, home-and-home series on Sunday night in Charlotte, with first pitch from Knights Stadium slated for 7:15. Chris George (3-3, 4.44) will take the hill for the Tides against right-hander Lucas Harrell (6-7, 4.04).
