Bulls Open Four-Game Set Against Knights Tonight
The Durham Bulls (4-7) open up a four-game set against the Charlotte Knights (7-3) tonight at the DBAP at 7:05 p.m. The game, presented by Michael & Son, kicks off a seven-game homestand.
Durham, which has lost four of its last five, sends southpaw Everett Teaford (0-1, 6.00) to the hill. The veteran has had two very different starts this season, as he tossed five scoreless innings in his season debut, before allowing seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits in four innings last Wednesday against Norfolk.
Opposite Teaford is Charlotte RHP Shawn Haviland (0-0, 0.00), who has made just one start this season. On April 13 against Durham, he tossed five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out four in a 3-0 Knights victory.
Offensively Durham has been led by Eugenio Velez, who has hit safely in all eight games he's played this season. Joey Butler is hitting .324 with seven RBIs, while Jake Elmore has reached base safely in all 10 games he's played, and is tied for the IL lead with 10 walks.
