Seager, Urias Sweep TL Players of the Week Honors
The Texas League announced that Drillers teammates Corey Seager and Julio Urias have been honored as the first recipients of the 2015 Player and Pitcher of the Week. With the beginning of the season starting on Thursday, April 9, the League measured the individual stats during the period of April 9-April 19.
Seager, the Los Angeles Dodgers number one prospect and the seventh overall prospect in all of baseball according to MLB.com, scorched Texas League pitching to begin his Drillers tenure. He batted .500 over the 10-game period going 21-for-42 with three 2B, one 3B, two HR, eleven RBI and nine runs scored.
Lefty starter Urias dominated from the mound posting a record of 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA over his two starts. The Dodgers number two prospect, as well as the eighth overall prospect in all of baseball according to MLB.com, tossed 10.2 shutout innings allowing just six hits with fourteen strikeouts against only two walks. Going back to the end of the 2014 season, Urias has now turned in 5 consecutive scoreless starts.
