Smith, 31, signed as a minor league free agent with Atlanta on November 4, 2014 and spent the past Spring Training in Braves' minor league camp. He was released by the club on April 3, but signed again on April 21. Smith spent all of 2014 with Triple-A Lehigh Valley of the Philadelphia Phillies' organization, going 9-11 with a 4.40 ERA (77 ER in 157.1 IP) in 27 games, 26 starts.
