Altuve Documentary to Air on MLB Network
"Big Dreams: The Jose Altuve Story" will air on MLB Network for the first time this Sunday, April 26, at 7 p.m. (CDT).
Additional airings are scheduled for Sunday, May 3, at 11 a.m., and Saturday, May 9, at 10 a.m.
The documentary from MLB Productions is narrated by award-winning actor and Houston native Dennis Quaid, and produced and directed by Danny Field. It's an inspirational story about the meteoric rise of Altuve from undersized, little-known prospect to history-making All-Star. The story follows him around the globe and includes stops in Japan, Florida, and his native homeland of Venezuela.
In 2014, Altuve had one of the finest seasons by a second baseman in Major League history, becoming the first Astros player to win a batting title (.341). He also led MLB in hits (225) and topped the American League in stolen bases (56).
A two-time All-Star, Altuve went straight from the Double-A Corpus Christi Hooks to Houston for his big league debut at age 21 on July 20, 2011. The 5-foot-6, 165-pounder hit .361 for the Hooks in 35 games before his promotion.
