Magnuson headed to XM Radio All-Star Futures Game

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, are proud to announce that right-handed pitcher Trystan Magnuson has been selected to participate in the 12th Annual XM Satellite Radio All-Star Futures Game as part of the Major League All-Star Game Festivities at Angel Stadium of Anaheim on Sunday, July 11.
Magnuson, a 6-foot-7 right-hander out of Vancouver, B.C., in Canada - has been dominant this season out of the bullpen for the Fisher Cats. The 25-year old reliever - selected with the 56th overall pick in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft -has gone 1-0 with a 2.09 ERA through 25 games, striking out 30 and walking seven over 38 2/3 innings. He recently worked sixteen consecutive scoreless outings between April 22 and June 8 before allowing a run at Erie on June 12.
The Futures Game pits a United States team against a World squad. Major League Baseball, in conjunction with the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau, MLB.com, Baseball America and the 30 Major League clubs, selected the 25- man rosters for each club, the U.S. Team and the World Team. Each Major League organization is represented, and the World Team features players from 10 different countries and territories, including Magnuson. The game will be broadcast live at 5:00pm on ESPN 2, ESPN 2 HD and MLB.TV. Magnuson is the seventh Fisher Cat to be selected to play in the Futures Game. Aaron Hill (2004) won the game's MVP award. The other Fisher Cats to play in the showcase are Zach Jackson (2005), Davis Romero (2006), Robinzon Diaz(2007), Scott Campbell (2008) and Luis Perez (2009).
New Hampshire plays the rubber game of a three-game series against the Harrisburg Senators at Metro Bank Park on Thursday night at 7:00pm. Right-hander Bobby Bell (3-2, 6.55) will get the start for the Fisher Cats against Senators left-hander Tom Milone (5-3, 3.24). Fisher Cats Pre-Game begins at 6:45pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Bob Lipman.
