Fisher Cats & Eagle-Tribune Support South Lawrence East Little League on Friday, May 22nd
The
Eagle-Tribune is providing free
tickets to all the league's players
for that night's game. In
addition, the
Fisher Cats will donate 50% of proceeds to the South Lawrence East
Little
League from tickets purchased either on the league's website, www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=southlawrence,
or through a special voucher that can be acquired directly from the
league. There will
be a pre-game parade
prior to the Fisher Cats/Thunder 7:05pm game that night to recognize
the kids
from South Lawrence East, whose little league season was placed in jeopardy last month when
$1,500 worth of
baseballs, bats, helmets and other baseball gear was stolen from the
league's
locked storage area.
"When
you hear of a situation
like this, the first thing you ask is 'what can we do to help?'" said
Fisher
Cats President/General Manager Rick
Brenner. "Thanks
to our partnership
with the Eagle-Tribune, the answer is to give these kids and their
families a
respite from the terrible theft that nearly cost these players a chance
to play
baseball this year. Fortunately,
the
community has rallied around South Lawrence East through the generosity
of so
many people, and we are excited to give them a fun night and help them
raise
some funds on Friday, May 22nd."
"We
want to thank the Fisher
Cats and the Eagle-Tribune for giving the kids from our league a break
from
everything else that's happened, allowing them to see a game of this
caliber,"
said South Lawrence East Little League President George
Herman.
