April 30, 2015

DES MOINES, Iowa - Today the Iowa Cubs activated infielder Javy Baez off the bereavement list. The team also added right-handed pitcher Brian Schlitter to the active roster and placed right-hander Barret Loux on the 7-Day disabled list with a right triceps strain.

Baez has not appeared in an official game yet this season. He hit .182 (10-for-55) with a home run and 21 strikeouts in Spring Training.

Schlitter, 29, went 0-2 with a 9.53 ERA (6 ER/5.2 IP) in seven relief appearances for Chicago before being optioned to Iowa on Monday.

Loux went 0-1 with a 2.38 ERA in his first three starts for Iowa, but left in the third inning of Friday's start against New Orleans. The right-hander missed the entire 2014 season after undergoing both right shoulder and Tommy John surgeries.
