Isotopes Drops Thriller In 12 Innings To Bees

May 2, 2015

NEED TO KNOW: The Albuquerque Isotopes (9-13) gave the Salt Lake Bees (9-12) all they had Friday night, but it wasn't enough as the good guys dropped a 12-inning, 10-5 decision. Game three of the four-game series is Friday night at 7:05 p.m. with the second of back-to-back post-game fireworks shows to follow, weather permitting.

DECIDING MOMENT: The Isotopes and Bees battled back-and-forth all evening long. After Salt Lake jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first, Albuquerque answered with two in second and single runs in the fourth and fifth to take the lead. The Bees regained the lead with a two-run top of the eighth, but the Topes answered in the home half to tie it up. Following a scoreless ninth, the two teams traded zeros in the 10th and 11th. The Isotopes lost pace in the 12th though, as a two-out, two-RBI triple opened the game up for Salt Lake. The Bees would add another run before a two-run dinger put the game out of reach.

GOING-GOING-GARNEAU: Catcher Dustin Garneau blasted a game-tying solo home run way back in the fourth inning, his fourth long ball of the season. Garneau finished the night 3-for-5 with a run scored, a homer and two RBI. Friday night marked his fourth multi-hit performance of the season and his third three-hit showing.

THEY CALL ME NINA: With fellow middle infielder Cristhian Adames on the disabled list, Angelys Nina picked up the slack Friday night. He posted a 3-for-5 evening and is now 6-for-12 with one run scored, a homer and four RBI in his last three games. Overall he has four three-hit games on the season and one two-hit contest.

ON DECK: The Isotopes and Bees will play their third game of this four-game series Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Jon Gray (0-3, 10.70) will take the hill for Albuquerque, while Salt Lake will go with fellow righty Alex Sanabia (0-3, 6.10).

LITTLE LEAGUE NIGHT AND FIREWORKS: Saturday night marks the second of back-to-back Little League Nights at Isotopes Park. There will also be a Post-game Fireworks Show, weather permitting, presented by Sadie's of New Mexico.

50¢ HOT DOG DAY COMING UP: Monday marks the return of the ever-popular 50¢ Hot Dog Night at Isotopes Park. Fans can get their tickets now online at abqisotopes.com and skip the lines at the Isotopes Park Box Office.

IN THE HOLE: 14 of the Isotopes next 18 games will be at Isotopes Park. After wrapping up this series against Salt Lake, the Topes will welcome the Las Vegas 51s to Albuquerque for a four-game set. The Isotopes will then hit the road for four games before returning home for another eight-game set on May 12.
